What's ironic is that these products are popular in the black community because they have a black person on the packaging.

If the people asking for these boycotts spent ANY time in an actual black community, they would know how RACIST they are for basically saying that "blacks are so stupid, they need a white person to research the history of these products and then we need to erase the black person history and their stories".

And the need to erase history is necessary for the Democrats, after all, every racist policy of that era was Democrat - Civil War - Lincoln was a Republican, the South were Democrats; KKK, Democrats; Planned Parenthood: explicitly started by a Democrat to provide cheap/free abortions with the explicit goal to disrupt and reduce the numbers of black babies. a new fox poll says biden is up by 12 percentage points.

of course, most other polls say trump will be trounced this time around.. do you think the polls might be right this time?

As always, the polls generally do not track specific candidates amongst likely voters, they just randomly call people and get a popularity vote.

Biden is more popular right now because he's been in the basement, he will most likely win the popular vote as long as he doesn't speak, but that's not how you pick a candidate. The minute Biden enters a podium and thereby the media spotlight, the real numbers will start coming in.

Given Biden has not yet picked a VP, you can't track the Biden ticket yet because it doesn't exist yet. Even if he wins the popular vote, he has to win the state votes and there a Biden win is very unlikely unless he flips pretty much all of the swing states which voted overwhelmingly for Trump last time and Clinton was a more potent candidate than Biden, especially in the demographics where it matters.

Biden's core demographics:

- Blacks - have been disillusioned by the establishment Democrats and more and more conservative black voices are coming up.

- Progressive young people - have been disillusioned as well but for different reasons, Biden isn't Sanders, he's not far enough to the left, young voters will stay home.

- Soccer/security moms - Defund the police won't be popular policy there

- Suburbs - White flight and Democratic strongholds polarization is having a very strong effect on the demographics and interests of the suburbs, turning typically blue districts more and more purple. Defund the police won't be popular there either.

It's becoming very interesting in there right now. Not only do you have Antifa and BLM and Warlord Raz fighting amongst each other.

Today some Proud Boys (alternative-to-the-right/white-supremacy-leftists) showed up and beat some guy in the head with a pipe.

Cops aren't showing up so now you have black-supremacy-leftists, anarchist-leftists, and white-supremacy-leftists fighting each other and the cops are just letting them.

It sounds like a ton of these extremists are organizing and descending into the area to pick a fight.

What's nice about convincing JWs about blood products is that you can always find an article that supports the product they need. The flip flopping and inconsistencies are so great, they've both allowed and disallowed pretty much every product and unless you have a medical and theological degree you wouldn't know how correct or how wrong the logic is.

If it comes to home defense, and you have other people living in your home, a shotgun or up to a 9mm (which now come in rifle form too) should do well, they're easier to shoot and wield around corners than a large AR. Anything large like an AR, but especially the heavier grain bullets will over-penetrate in CQB and may hurt others.

A .22 may be too small though to stop anyone, they can kill but most likely hurt a lot and don't necessarily do damage if you hit someone in the human armor plate that is the chest. Depends on the types of criminals you have coming in, most will run away in case of any danger, including a 22LR but it doesn't have stopping power if you have a quarterback-sized druggie charging at you.

You also don't need a large .50 Magnum Desert Eagle or so for the same reasons, besides it being hard to aim and carry being so heavy. You'll blow someone's head clear off, leave a huge hole in every wall, including your neighbors' and probably shatter all the windows.

I've settled myself on a 9mm Ruger PC Carbine for home defense. It's easy to take down, small and relatively light. My wife is getting her permit for a 9mm or smaller caliber concealed carry so magazines are interchangeable. I live in a state where the cops are likely being defunded and the city is getting worse as the BLM mayor refuses to let police clean the neighborhoods. We used to have a Republican mayor up until about a decade ago, home values have since stagnated and the black neighborhoods that were being repaired are now becoming no-go zones again. 2h for a police response is now normal.

i have noticed as of late that google searches are heavily filtering searches and shopping.

i know they keep track and monitor your activity but when i can not find things or articles because they don't fit googles bs naritive its time to leave.

duck duck go is my replacement.

DuckDuckGo is pretty good. Also, ditch Android altogether, Apple at least doesn't want to track you and is fighting the tracking, Google is tracking everything.

@Stephane: The tax was on money that was being off-shored to the US. In France, charities have to demonstrate that they are using the money for charity in France.

Instead they were sending it to the US and claiming that it was being redistributed worldwide for charity, but the French government cannot get visibility in US charities.

@Kosonen: It is becoming more and more of an issue, the upkeep of the halls is a major cost and could even land them in court.

All halls, especially quick-builds are a poorly built death trap and the liabilities, as the org is now taking on ownership of the halls themselves, is a major problem.

@millie: I agree, but I think that's largely due to me getting tired of the same thing. When I got out a few years ago, I was excited about all the new things I was learning and all the minutiae the Borg was bringing out.

Going back, being older myself now and knowing much more of the history, there really hasn't been anything new in WT-land since the 80s. They started playing it safer after 75 and currently they feel a lot like 'just another Christian televangelist group'.

Yeah, there are still major issues within the organization but the business entity really has taken a back seat and are just letting the locals figure out how hardcore they want to pursue this whole thing. My local congregation has gotten a LOT more relaxed, the hardcore pioneers and elders got disfellowshipped and/or got disillusioned themselves and the Zoom "meetings" have turned into family nights where they play board games.

And there is nothing unique that JW's are doing today, they've ended their ministry which is the only thing that stood out, every church is on Zoom and it's just another social group for most.

That's the thing about prophecies, they are always true. So when the bad thing eventually happens, the prophets can say "I told you so".

There was an article a few days ago about the scientists warning about coronavirus. The article mentioned they've warned about this since the 70s and SARS a few years ago, and how bad and evil it is to not be completely prepared for this eventuality. They will eventually be right but we can't have firefighters stationed in every house or ambulances follow every car just in case.

The hospital I work at had protocols for massive outbreaks for decades. They didn't apply because they were for things we know about like Ebola, not for a virus that spreads through the air because every airborne virus we knew about prior including SARS wasn't nearly as deadly and transmissible (which makes some people believe it was engineered after all).

The Bible prophecies in the NT are likewise intentionally vague and have been fulfilled in Nero burning down Rome, the fall of Jerusalem and every large conflict since. Pestilence and food shortage and calls for peace following war has been true since time memorial, only in the last 100-200 years has the world been made rich enough for certain aspects of that to no longer be true the way it was before. This makes the JW prophecies less and less relevant. Iraq didn't have food shortages and pestilence like they would've had in the past after a war because as the US was fighting, they also brought with them the tools of rebuilding a free and democratic civilization which are the precursors to wealth and wellness. As war gets more and more "humane", the effects will diminish as well.
